Hornby R2054 Gresley A3 Class 60103 'Flying Scotsman' in BR Green with a late crest This 'Super Detail' model is without smoke deflectors and comes with a non corridor tender and a double chimney. It was introduced by Hornby in 1998.

She's a lovely looking loco with some great detailing and imitation coal has been applied on the tender. Both the loco and tender are in excellent condition and free from damage or meaningful marks save for one strange issue. Very oddly on the both sides of the loco running from the underneath the cylinder and the adjacent framework and down onto front bogie it looks like something has been 'sprayed' - seriously I can't see how it happened given the pattern of the 'spray' and I wouldn't be too surprised if this occurred in production but then why wasn't she returned? Fortunately it's not hugely noticeable given the dark colour of whatever it is and, given that its 'smooth', with a steady hand it should be relatively easy to 'overpaint' given that its all on the black so to speak - please see the two close up front left and right photographs.

The undersides are clean with the wheels showing some signs of moderate use.

She has not been run in the ten plus years that I've owned her and I have just done a short test run on my rolling road. Apart from a very slight stutter at start the tender motor runs nicely through the range in forward and reverse. After such a long lay off though she'll need some lubrication.

The box is excellent with some very minor corner wear. It contains the Hornby 'Operation and Maintenance Instructions' sheet. The pictorial tray cover is generally in good order but with a repaired tears on the flap down end. The poly tray is good and an unopened ancillary fittings bag is in the well. I found the front vacuum pipe loose in the box - it will need to be remounted and it's currently in a twist of tissue paper in the well with the ancillary fittings bag.

Please look carefully at the photos which form part of the description. I want everyone to bid with confidence so I always do my best to fully describe the locomotive openly and fairly but if you have any queries just drop me a line.

I've built up an extensive collection of mainly steam locos over the years having been fortunate enough to catch their final years. Most have come from various auctions but sadly I've just run out of space so time for some serious thinning out. The last thing I want to do is disappoint anyone so it's important to be clear that I'm more of a 'display collector' than a 'runner' and it follows that my knowledge generally on the technical side is fairly basic. I've invested in a rolling road to at least check that the motor runs but beyond that I'm not qualified to make further comment I'm afraid.

I will dispatch to many locations outside the UK but only those listed through eBay's Global Shipping Program.

On postage, I’m sorry that this is so high. Sadly for everyone delivery costs have shot up recently across the board. I send out everything valued at over £25 signed for and fully covered compensation wise and whilst sometimes I have to make a little bit of an estimate I only ever seek to recover the direct cost to me.

I've lined the bays with some thin foam to make her easier to lift out along with a thin foam layer across the top of the tray to help prevent rub in transit.
