The SAS was formed by a British Officer, David Stirling in 1941. This was to be the special forces of the British Army. In the North Africa Campaign the SAS were transported in the desert by the Long Range Desert Group. Their iconic American Jeeps were armed with twin Vickers Machine Guns and US Browning 50 Caliber Machine Guns. They would hit and run German Airstrips, Fuel Dumps and Convoys. This severely disrupted German Supply Lines and also stuck fear in the German Army due to the fact they never knew where or when the SAS would strike.

Hitler was furious when he heard about the success of the SAS and ordered "Commando Order" in October of 1942. This order commanded that all captured SAS Soldiers would be executed. Over 65 Captured SAS were executed by the Nazis during WW2.

The SAS were "creative' in their choice of uniform when they were in the field. They would sometimes wear Arab garb, captured German Uniforms, or civilian attire The SAS would fight in North Africa, Sicily, and behind the German lines in France, Belgium and Germany.
