Flanders (Vlaanderen) is the northern state of Belgium, where Dutch is the official language. Thanks to post-war investments for further industrialization, Flanders has become more prosperous than Wallonia since the 1960s and has grown into one of the most prosperous, urbanized and most densely populated regions in the European Union.
