Tierra del Fuego is literally at the end of the Earth. It is an island at the southern end of South America, separated from the mainland by the Strait of Magellan, where a private local post operated in the 1890s.
The post had been organized by a Romanian, Julius Popper, who had obtained an Argentine gold mining concession. A red 10 centavos stamp was issued circa 1891, designed by Rudolph Soucop and lithographed by Juan H. Kidd & Company of Buenos Aires.
