Nanotyrannus Tooth

This nice tooth comes from the "Pygmy Tyrannosaur", Nanotyrannus Lancensis.  Nanotyrannus was one of the smallest known and one of the last Tyrannosaurids.  Nanotyrannus was founded upon a well preserved, nearly complete skull with tightly articulated lower jaws.  Fossils from the large carnivore are found in the Hell Creek Formation of Montana.

This Nanotyrannus tooth was found in one piece needing no restoration.  The tooth has quite a bit of natural feeding wear on its tip and serration strips.  The Nanotyrannus tooth has nice detail and preservation with a dark brown coloration.  All around a nice example of a Nanotyrannus tooth.

The Nanotyrannus tooth measures:  1/2" of an inch wide by 1 9/16" inches in length.

This Nanotyrannus Lancensis tooth was dug out of a microsite in the Hell Creek Formation of Carter County, Montana.  The fossil was collected on private ranch land with the owner's permission.
