Thank you for watching this beautiful antique or vintage chess board. I am unsure to which wood the board is however I am guessing it is inlaid with satinwood with mahogany in places. The board though in good condition has had a burn mark from a cup from the previous owner and they may have tried to clean it also having a whiteish tinge around the burn. This board is of the perfect size and has a wonderful patina. Once this board will be polished or cleaned it will look amazing. The special feature of this board is the fact that it is solid & sturdy as well as having the rare section on each side to hold the captured pieces when not in play. Due to its tray like design, one can move the board around easily with any pieces in play or out of play without disrupting play. The green original baize on the underside is still intact to keep the board in place. Please note the chess set in the photos is not included and for sale in another listing which matches perfectly with this board with a king size height if 7cm.

The square size is about 1.5”. It is not very thick and a great showpiece. The board measures over 16” by 12”. The thickness is under 1” or just over 2cm.

There will be wear here and there as the item is not new, but the overall condition is good as in the photos and you will have a fun game. Please see photos for item dimensions and square size.
