_You are bidding on a fascinating pottery stirrup vessel likely crafted around the north coast of Peru by the Moche culture, ca. 600 to 800 CE. It appears that someone, likely around the 1950s or 60s, tried to match the original pattern with modern paint; the pattern is inserted and nicely blended but is obviously not original. This piece is from a larger collection and unfortunately individual / detailed provenance is not available. 

Stands approximately 6.75" tall | weight is 12.9 ounces | Cosmetic scuffing, discoloration, firing imperfections, minor chipping at spout.  Modern paint is raised, original is not.
