CONDITION DESCRIPTION:

Overall cosmetic condition is good to excellent for a vintage instrument, but possibly NEEDS COMPLETE OVERHAUL. This clarinet can be restored to like-new, playable condition. The pictures provided are of the actual instrument being sold and should be considered as part of the description.

ABOUT THIS INSTRUMENT:

For sale: a beautiful Selmer Paris “BT”(for Balanced Tone) Bb wood clarinet. Both joints are stamped with the same serial number L41XX, which indicates the year of manufacture to be 1933. This model was a precursor to the Selmer Centered Tone. This vintage instrument was a favorite among jazz players of the time and is still sought after today. Overall, these clarinets are free blowing and therefore extremely easy to play, have excellent intonation and direct, dark sound without losing the sweetness.

The cosmetic condition of this instrument is near excellent for a vintage instrument. There is very little plating loss, if any, and the wood color is dark and complex. The previous owner had this in good playing condition: it was well-oiled, the springs are tight and it appears to be well-adjusted. For the price of a repad, you could have a great jazz instrument and a classic horn...and Selmers are so much fun to play!
