On the belt is attached a canteen, large ammo pouch for his submachine gun and a axe sheath for a Vietnam Tactical Tomahawk Axe used in close combat. He also wears a belly rig that has seven pouches. The three largest pouches hold nine ammo magazines for his Carl Gustav M/45 submachine gun. EXTRA Equipment are a Claymore Mine with a detonator and two red smoke grenades,

The Carl Gustav M/45 SMG is known for it's ruggedness and dependability in jungle terrain. It was deemed perfect for close combat and was popular among the Navy SEALS. The correct way to hold a M/45 was in front of the magazine. Holding the mag causes inaccuracy and can actually damage or loosen the magazine.
