Aside from its name, there is absolutely nothing normal about this stunning Cartier Tank.

The Tank Louis is often thought to be the ‘original’ Cartier Tank that spawned many related models, but the Tank Normale is the actual grandfather of the Tank family. The least known among the Tank siblings, the Tank Normale was released to the public in 1919 and featured an elegant yet at the same time utilitarian design that was, and still is, easily recognizable due to its angular case with vertical crossbars.
The Tank Normale is pretty difficult to find and has only been produced in small numbers. This exquisite and rare reference 78093 dates back to the 80's and features an 18ct yellow gold case with a unique diamond setting. Usually, diamond set Tank models only feature diamonds on the vertical side bars (known as the brancards, which is French for “stretcher”). Yet, on this piece not only the brancards are set with diamonds but also the horizontal bars of the case.

The watch measures 20 x 28 mm and comes with the original ‘Cartier Paris’ signed enamel dial, indicating that the watch was sold in Cartier's legendary flagship boutique at the Place Vendôme. The dial, of course, features Cartier’s well-known painted black Roman numerals, painted railroad minute track, and blue sword hands. Normally diamond set Cartier watches have a crown topped with a diamond. This model has a blue sapphire, which is unusual but correct as it was also featured like this in an official '80s Cartier catalogue. This exceptional and historically important Tank Normale is in impeccable condition with sharp lines and finished off with a new genuine crocodile leather strap.

Important Information

Please note that our warranty covers manufacturing and mechanical defects only.

Our warranty is subject to the same terms and conditions as the manufacturer warranty. The standard manufacturer warranty does not cover theft or loss of the watch. Normal wear-and-tear or damage caused to the watch by accidents or mishandling/mistreatment are also excluded, as well as damage caused to a watch due to submersion in water which is against the manufacturer's guidance. In particular, wear of the watch strap is not covered by the warranty. Any modification of a watch by the addition or substitution of components by aftermarket products which have not been provided by the manufacturer will also invalidate the warranty. The use of aftermarket components can severely compromise the technical performance, reliability and waterproofness of the watch.

Warranty returns are sent directly to the Service Centre, however you are free to deliver your warranty return to our Service Centre premises. Please be advised that warranty return must be adequately insured at your own expense. The warranty is in addition to your statutory and common law rights.

If Your Watch Has a Problem

If your watch has developed a fault, you can return it to us for inspection. If the repair is covered by your warranty, it will be undertaken free of charge. To begin the warranty return process, please contact us, providing as much information about the fault as you can. A member of the team will then contact you to arrange the repair.

  1. WATER RESISTANCE

    1. Where your Order for Goods includes a wrist watch (‘Watch’), you should be aware that water resistant Watches are not water proof. For example, Watches advertised as water resistant to 30 metres (100 feet/3 ATM) can only withstand splashes. All Watches sold by us are subject to our categorisation as detailed in the glossary available on our Website.
    2. All our Watches are tested prior to sale to ensure that the advertised water resistance is accurate. "Vintage" watches and those over 10 years old are not tested nor guaranteed for water resistance. You acknowledge and accept that we will not replace seals and/or gaskets or other parts if the Watch passes our tests before dispatch.
    3. Waterproofing (or “water resistance”), are described either in meters, or in bars (1 bar = 10 m = approx. 33 ft). It is important to note that the indication of the degree of water resistance in meters is a technical norm which does not correspond to an exact depth. “Water-resistant to 10m” does not mean that the watch can be worn to this depth, rather it indicates that the watch will resist pressure equivalent to a static immersion up to 10m deep. The wearer’s movements (diving, jumping, swimming, etc) as well as the force of the water (shower jets, river currents, waterfalls, etc) can considerably increase the pressure.
    4. Where your watch is certified as Water Resistant its water-resistance is ensured by a series of seals. Before any contact with water, it is essential to ensure that the crown and pushers of your watch are pushed in or screwed down, depending on model. When your watch is under water, do not activate the push-pieces for the chronograph function, the minute-repeater or the second time zone. After swimming, make sure to rinse your water-resistant watch in fresh water so as to neutralise the potentially corrosive effects of sea-water or chlorine. The water-resistance seals of your certified Water Resistant watch undergo natural deterioration due to ageing. It is therefore recommended that you have a regular water-resistance check performed once every year if your watch is worn during sporting activities or frequently comes into contact with water, or once every two years when worn in normal conditions. Never try and open the case yourself. In the event of water or condensation appearing under the glass, take the watch as quickly as possible to an authorized maintenance centre to prevent further damage.
