Allow me to introduce you to 'Lonely Cecilia'! She is a mysteriously beautiful, Victorian-era miniature dollhouse character doll. She was made from an original, one-of-a-kind, vintage clay sculpt by the talented miniaturist, Marcia Backstrom. She has been wigged, painted and dressed by the international doll artist, and my personal friend, Dana Burton, as an exclusive and unique dollhouse character doll for Madam Magpie Dolls. We purchased Marcia Backstrom's studio from Marcia's mother. Marcia left behind a collection of her original sculpts and it is our endeavor to bring them all to life over the coming years. With the aid of talented doll artisans and our in-house talent, we are honored to take the helm.
Cecilia stands poised wherever you place her. She is perfectly content amidst the blossoms of a garden, and is the picture of summer elegance etched with a touch of loneliness. Her dark brown hair, the color of rich espresso, frames her face in gentle waves. She is adorned in a gown of exquisite beige, with hints of pink and antique gold. Layers of delicate lace and handmade pink roses accent her gown, perhaps a reminder of a love lost. A matching silk hat sits perched atop her head. Her eyes, though beautiful, hold a depth of sadness. One white gloved hand rests gently near her collar, as if she is yearning to hold something, anything, close.
