Drink like the ancient Germans! Up for sale is this beautiful colonial German bellarmine. This jug is app. 6  inches tall and decorated with a bearded mans (wild mans) face. Excellent condition with no damages or repairs.

Property from a private collection. Theese bellarmines ( or bearded man jug, "Bartmannkrug" in German ) represent a type of pitcher that was popular from the late 16th century to more recent times and that a very long tradition. Theese jugs were used for strong alcoholics, spirit and wine. This jugs were traded as colonional goods and are found in shipwrecks and ancient harbours in the Caribic, in Western Africa and Asia.
