A very interesting piece from the Vietnam conflict
This USN combat knife has been personalized and probably presented as a gift to a US Navy Captain.
As most US Navy troops did not serve as boots on the ground the likely hood it that this belonged to US Navy Seal Captain attached to Elite SOG units in Vietnam.
The knife also bears a Marine Corps Insignia which may indicate the knife may have a much deeper story behind it.
Without a doubt the knife is a combat used fighting knife.
Probably the knife was used to save the life of a fellow US soldier and has a significant history.
The deer horn handle and scabbard has been obviously altered but this was done during the period.
The scabbard is the original sheath.
Blade is marked with N.Y Camillus.
The knife itself might be early production from WW2.
