Rare example of a 1915 World War 1 U.S. made British Army Simplified Service Dress Jacket. In New-Old-Stock, unissued condition. Original glued-on paper tag present inside on the breast dated January 1915. Made by C. Kenyon Co. in New York. One interior cotton pocket bag is stamped 'New York Depot' along with a name (inspector?) I can't make out. Another paper tag is stapled on the back with the British size '4'. Appears the US size '34' was written on the inside of one of the pocket flaps too. Made of a fairly nice wool thats a bit softer than the typical US Army wool tunics that were issued a few years later. Four 'simplified' (no pleat) front pockets, a pair of neck closure hooks, brown cotton twill pocketbags and with a pair of short vents in back. Painted brass buttons and brass belt holders hand stitched on the rear waist. Interesting to note that the entire jacket is single stitched including the armholes, see photo. US size I believe is a 34. In absolutely mint condition. Zero moth issues, no spots, stains or damage. One of the buttons has a scatch on the green paint showing the brass underneith. And the paper tag on the back is a little curled but intact. A really extraordinary antique British Army jacket. Shipped promptly and carefully. Questions welcome.
