This is an absolutely exquisite large chunky natural Turquoise Double Strand Necklace with a fabulous 14 Karat Yellow Gold barrel clasp from the estate of Hollywood Legend Mary Lou Daves. Ms. Daves' jewelry exemplified her exquisite taste. Her jewels were unique, dramatic and elegant. The dramatic and large turquoise gems in the necklace have magnificent color and fabulous matrix. The shorter strand of the necklace is 23 inches long and the longer strand is 26 inches long. The largest turquoise are one inch wide. The clasp is a fabulous antique Retro barrel clasp in 14 Karat yellow gold. Provenance: The necklace is from the Bel Air estate of Delmer and Mary Lou Daves where a who's who of Hollywood legends (Cole Porter entertained guests at the piano) were entertained. Their love story began on the set of the 1938 film, "Professor Beware." As a successful contract writer for Warner Bros., Delmer Daves wrote the screenplay and wanted to visit the set to see how things were going. 19-year-old, Mary Lawrence was cast as the Bride. He was instantly smitten. "So you're playing the bride? I wish you would marry me," he quipped. "I shall answer you with the same spirit you asked me. Of course I will be yours forever." The two were married for 39 years, had three children and a lifetime of adventures. His career spanned 40 years during which he wrote and/or directed 80 movies including: Love Affair (1939), Destination Tokyo (1943) , Hollywood Canteen (1944), Dark Passage (1947), Broken Arrow (1950), Birds of Paradise (1951), The Last Wagon (1956), An Affair to Remember (1957), 3:10 to Yuma (1957), Cowboy (1958), A Summer Place (1959), The Hanging Tree (1959) He was a genius, renaissance man, student and tinkerer.
