RISER KIT FOR A LATER DELTA 14” BAND SAW WITH HINGED WHEEL COVERS.

Add 6” to the cutting height capability of your Delta 14” band saw.  The riser kit works with either the wood or the wood/metal versions of the popular Delta saw.

CRUCIAL INFORMATION

This kit fits Delta band saws that have HINGED wheel covers.  (Hinged wheel covers are secured to the saw castings with several bolts through a piano-type hinge on the left hand side of both the top and bottom wheel covers)

For comparison, removable wheel covers are secured to the saw with two knobs at each cover

This listing is for the HINGED wheel cover style saws. 

The kit includes the follow components:

►  A heavy 4” x 2½” rectangular steel tube and (2) ½” thick plates make up the riser block weldment.  It was then precision machined on CNC equipment for parallelism and to add the necessary dowel holes and pins for perfect alignment.

       ►  Two (2) ¼” x ¾” dowel pins

►  A ¾-10 x 8” bolt, lock washer, and nut for securing the top and bottom saw castings through the riser block.  The  bolt has been modified by adding a secondary plate to the bolt head to prevent rotation during tightening.

►  A 15/16"diameter x 16” long 6061 aluminum guide post.  The round bar may differ from your existing bar in that the new bar has a milled flat full length in lieu of the V-shaped groove in your existing bar.  Our milled bar is a perfect replacement for the V-grooved bar.

►  A clear poplar wood custom fabricated blade guard for enclosing the return portion for the saw blade.

►  A mounting kit, with studs, brackets and screws, to secure the wood return blade guard.  A BONUS ratcheting screw driver and insert bit is included to help install the screws, where a clearance for a regular screw driver is tight.

►  An extended length sheet metal finger guard for protecting the operator from the exposed blade when not using the high limits of available cutting blade length.

►  A regular length short finger guard, comparable to the 7” OEM blade guard.  This guard protects the operator from the top portion of the exposed blade when cutting tall stock.

    ►  Printed installation instructions 

The riser block has been sandblasted and primed with a zinc rich catalyzed PPG paint.

Dowel pins are provided for insertion into the riser where needed.

 An extra passage hole has been added to top and bottom plates of the riser block to allow for a power cord to complete internal wiring of a retirement light on the saw.  To use this route, you must drill a cord passage hole in the lower band saw casting in the pad where the riser block sets.

The bolt, lock washer, nut, and both sheet metal finger guards have been bright zinc plated. 

All components will be securely packed into a heavy weight cardboard box for shipping.  Shipping to anywhere in the lower 48 states for this 14 lb. kit is $28.00.  Other locations may have to pay an additional shipping fee.

Exception note: Delta hinged cover saw #28-276.

        We are aware of one newer model of the Delta 14” band saw with hinged wheel covers that had the large bolt hole placed off center.   The saw that has an issue with the hole’s position is Model #28-276.  On the one saw of this model that we were made aware of,  had the hole for the connecting bolt placed considerably closer to the near side than to the back side of the lower casting’s mating surface.  On all other Delta band saws this hole is located on the centerline of the mating surface.  Our riser block will not accommodate this offset hole.  Die grinding or a similar metal removal process to shift this hole into the open window of the riser block will be the responsibility of the buyer.  Contact me before ordering if you plan to install a riser kit on the model # 28-276 saw.
