A VERY SCARCE DIE IIB 3rd WATERMARK 1/- BRIGHT BLUEGREEN KANGAROO VARIETY: "LI OF SHILLING DEFORMED" - ACSC 33(4)h PLATE POSITION 4L11 - ACSC 2021 CV$150
The Die IIb 3rd Watermark 1/- Kangaroo was printed by T.S. HARRISON in April 1919 (presumably) through to February 1926. MULLETT took over the printing to June 1927 then finally J. ASH to 1929. The earliest 'date-of-use' recorded is 9 December 1920. The stamp was used as the interstate telegram rate, the intrastate telegram rate (after 1 October 1923) and to 'make-up' for parcel post charges. There were some 217,458,400 Die IIB stamps delivered into service. This scarce variety is listed in the AUSTRALIAN COMMONWEALTH SPECIALISTS' CATALOGUE "KANGAROOS" (ACSC 2021) as:
ACSC 33(4)h: "LI OF SHILLING DEFORMED" - PLATE POSITION 4L11 - 2021 CV$150 (I have not found and listed this since 2017).

This variety recurs at 4L11 … that is … it is the 11th STAMP of the LEFT  PANE of PLATE 4 (the new Lower Plate used to print the HARRISON Die IIB 1/- Kangaroos in 1919/1920). This particular example is very nice. Centered a little RIGHT with very good perforations. Very nice "WESTERN AUSTRALIA" CDS. There are three very small dots of tone on 3 x perforations (probably come out in a wash if you really wanted). Hard to find variety now!! The reference scans are from the 2021 ACSC. You may not see another for a few years.
