is a Hamilton 923 pocket watch from 1941. Chances are if you are here you know what you are looking for. However allow me to provide a brief history of these watches.
Model 923 is a 10S men's pocket watch (about 44mm with case) which was produced by Hamilton from very late 1930s till mid 1950s. Even though it had a lengthy production span there were only 3,400 units made during this time which is a small number compare to most other models. This was a top of the line 23 jewels movement, Hamilton's flagship. Some of 923 were cased in gold filled cases, but majority were in solid 14k and 18k gold cases. Later many of these case were sold for scrap and melted. So, as of today only a small number of these Hamilton's still exists. They are highly collectable and expensive.
This particular watch is cased in 14k gold filled case, which make it very rare but also more affordable compare to solid gold examples which usually sell for around $3K if in good condition. The condition of this watch is excellent indeed!
Below is a detailed explanation of the condition:
Dial: Very good. Original two tone yellow dial with gold numbers shows few tiniest scratches and signs of use.
Hands: Very good. Straight and true blue steel hands show minimal age spots visible only with magnification.
Crystal Excellent. Original glass crystal shows almost no sighs of use. Very clean and clear.
Case: Excellent. No wear thought the plating. A few minor dings. Slightly polished. Snaps well.
Movement: Excellent. Just serviced, tested runs strong and accurate with good power reserve.
The
watch runs excellent and was serviced just a few days ago. Movement went
through a complete overhaul: cleaned, oiled and
regulated. Even though it's 80+ years old watch it runs strong. Refer to a timographer
picture for
accuracy. Rest assured everything is in in good order with this watch
as you are buying from a watchmaker. Just a cost of service and
restoration would be about third of asking price . Shipped insured and free to buyer.
