This listing is for a vintage (Leblanc) Normandy Bb soprano clarinet that was "Made by Noblet". This is a rare plateau style clarinet. Plateau clarinets do not have open hole 'rings' like a standard clarinet. Rather, they have solid keys with pads, more like a saxophone, or a closed hole flute. This type of clarinet is particularly useful for players who have difficulty covering the rings of a standard clarinet. 

This clarinet is made of grenadilla wood. It has the serial number 598 on both main sections. Both main sections, and the bell, have the matching Normandy logo. The barrel is unmarked, so it might not be original to the rest of the instrument.

This clarinet is being sold as is for repair/restoration, or parts. It is not currently in playing condition, but it is definitely restorable. It would need a full overhaul (ie. new pads, corks, and possibly additional repairs) to be made playable. It is in overall very good physical condition, so it is an excellent candidate for an overhaul. There are no cracks, nor any evidence of past crack repairs. The keys are all moving freely and rebounding properly when released. The plating has dulled significantly with age but it should polish back to a bright luster. The bell and tenon rings are all tight. The pads are completely shot, and a few have fallen out. The corks are also very worn. The springs look decent though.

This instrument comes in a Buffet case. It is the style of Buffet case that was made to look like their fancy case that the pro model came in, but it is actually a plastic shell case for their lower level instruments. The case is in fair condition. There has been some screws added on the interior it looks like. The interior is fairly well worn, and smells a bit musty, so you'll probably want to replace it once the instrument is overhauled. The exterior is in good condition.

There is no mouthpiece, nor any other accessories included.
