GERMANY 1920s BANKNOTE

In the early 1920s in Germany there was a major shortage of metal (And many other things) and coins became scarce. There wasn't enough coins around for normal commerce. So a solution was that many cities issued low denomination banknotes called NOTGELD (meaning emergency money). They were issued before the massive inflation era that came a year or two later that rendered the notgeld's basically worthless. They were often very colourful and today are highly collectable.
