The product is a hand-painted glass slide for a magic lantern projector. It depicts the sinking of the Titanic, a historical event that occurred in 1912.

VERY RARE ANTIQUE Magic Lantern Slide depicting the sinking of the TITANIC.  An iconic image. 

Perhaps one of the very first visual portrayal of the sinking of the Titanic. The slide was produced in 1912 just after the April 1912 Titanic sinking and is an original piece. It was likely used for educational or entertainment purposes. The slide features a colored image of the Titanic sinking. White Star company owned the ship. The slide measures 3.75" x 4". It shows a few of the life boats rowing away from the ship as it sunk.
