This mid-century Hycroft China mug stands about 9 cm (3.5 inches) tall, with a rim diameter of about 8 cm (3.14 inches) and holds just under 236.5 millilitres (8 ounces).

Hand painted with 22k gold, the cup is in very nice condition for it's age - no chips, cracks or stains.

Made in the kilns of the Medicine Hat Clay District, a National Historic Site of Canada.

Medicine Hat Potteries (1937-1954) produced products like kitchenware, bricks, flowerpots, and decorative household goods for both home and commercial use.  The pottery was renamed Hycroft China in 1955.

Hycroft was the only local pottery that used gold as a border, as an additional colour to an image, or as script. It was often the finishing touch to commemorative plates, celebrating anniversaries and special events of all kinds. The application of this gold or silver, whether line or script, was the work of Rose Marie Stickle, and her predecessor, Walter Zeiman.
