These birds pictured are today's breeders who are 100% from eggs originally obtained from nests found in Western Kansas wild populations just one or two generations ago. The area only has true wild blue-backed ring-neck pheasant populations and unfortunately, hens were killed while mowing hay and the eggs were collected, hatched, raised, to produce them in captivity. They are smaller, leaner, resulting in an awesome true wild-type game bird, NOT the 3.5-4 pound domesticated Chinese Ring-neck strains that will rather run than fly, produced at most Game Farms today. They require much less food both in captivity and to survive in the wild. They are surprisingly easy to raise, hardy, explosive fast strong fliers, with rich deep bright markings and strong feathering and extra-long strong tails. They are highly intelligent and have strong natural instincts to survive and reproduce in in the wild.

They prefer to HIDE in cover instead of RUNNING and prefer to ROOST in trees at night away from predators. We have yet to see any run on our Llewellin Setters in good cover. but are explosive flyers. This makes them perfect for stocking lands, preserves, dog training all year in KY, Taxidermy mounting, and exceptional flavor for the table. We have reports from farmers here in KY, where the KYFW say pheasants cannot survive, but the farms we stocked see hens with all ages of chicks each summer. These are surviving in KY and our past customers have similar results in the Northern and more Southern states.

Best to be raised without artificial lights so the males weigh approximately 2.25 and hens1.75 lbs. when mature, resulting in a true wild size Chinese Ring-neck Pheasant. They are the most uniform, beautiful and best strain we have found in over 52 years of breeding top game birds for stocking, hunting and for training our personal Llewellin Setters.

No permits required to own in Kentucky (non-native gamebird), buyers should check out your local town, city, county, and state regulations before purchasing.

Hatching eggs are collected twice each day, turned, kept cool, and shipped fresh, professionally packed completely surrounded with foam (see pics), no more than 1-3 days old. Most orders are collected the morning packed and shipped. This is why we cannot take orders for larger amounts, but we do accept multiple orders, up to FOUR 30 egg total orders at one time, that will be shipped the same day if possible, depending on how well they are laying at the time. Sorry, no orders less than 36 eggs or more than 144. HATCHING EGGS are shipped on Monday-Wednesday, so they are not left in a hot truck over weekend.

Please, let eggs sit still with point end down at room temperature for 24 hours before setting in incubator, for best results. Should hatch in 23-24 days.

We are getting  96-98% hatch rates on our eggs.
