R2364M 'The Torbay Express' Train Pack with Castle Class locomotive and three chocolate and cream BR Mk1 composite coaches from Hornby's Matched Train Series. This Limited Edition pack, one of 1500, was released by Hornby in 2003.

The Pack is made up of:

The 'bodywork' of both the loco and tender are in excellent condition, free from damage or marks. The undersides are clean with the wheels showing minimal signs of use. The detailing and decals are sharp. She's a great looking loco which has all the appearance of never having been run to any degree and I'd say that overall she's pretty much in mint condition.

The coaches are in tip top shape, complete and free from damage or any marks and, as with the loco, appear to be in pretty much mint little run condition.

The box and its lid are in excellent condition with minimal wear save for a couple of short 'flap' tears at one end of the box - I have glued these to reduce the risk of them opening up further (to include small trips of card on the inside of the box to reinforce) but care will nevertheless be needed opening that end. The box contains Hornby's 'Certificate of Authentication' (0355 of 1500) along with the relevant loco operation and maintenance sheet and instructions for mounting the brake rods.  The poly tray is in good order, complete with its cover and some additional packing pieces, and there are unopened brake rod and headboard bags in the slot. What I assume to be the original tissue paper is in all the bays. In essence this pack is fully complete.

The loco has not been run in the ten plus years that I’ve owned her so I’ve tested her on my rolling road to check that the motor is working. This surprisingly was very hit and miss with very limited wheel rotation on the rollers but put her on the short section of track and she would run off in either direction albeit reluctantly. On a positive note this tells me that the motor is working and whilst I didn’t push it, for obvious reasons, I’d be 99% certain that this is a service/lubrication issue with her having been laid up for so long.

Please look carefully at the photos which form part of the description.  I want everyone to buy with confidence so I always do my best to describe everything openly and fairly but please remember that unless I’ve made it clear otherwise the set is sold ‘used’ because I do not know its full history and everything might not be absolutely pristine ‘new' although hopefully pretty close unless I’ve described specific issues.  If you have any queries just drop me a line.

I've built up an extensive collection of mainly steam locos over the years having been fortunate enough to catch their final years. Most of my locos have come from various auctions but sadly I've just run out of space so time for some serious thinning out. The last thing I want to do is disappoint anyone so it's important to be clear that I'm more of a 'display collector' than a 'runner' and it follows that my knowledge generally on the technical side is fairly basic. I've invested in a rolling road to at least check that the motor runs but beyond that I'm not qualified to make further comment I'm afraid.

I will dispatch to many locations outside the UK but only those listed through eBay's Global Shipping Program.

On postage, I’m sorry that this is so high. Sadly for everyone delivery costs have shot up recently across the board. I send out everything valued at over £25 signed for and fully covered compensation wise and whilst sometimes I have to make a little bit of an estimate I only ever seek to recover the direct cost to me.

I’ve put some thin foam sheet across the top of the tray to help keep everything safe in transit.
