According to the box this is Airfix model 54150-1, a GWR Class 61XX Prairie Tank 6110 with a late crest. This model was introduced by Airfix in1977. Since original retail she has been professionally 'blacked' and heavily weathered by Hardjeff Model Railways so to that extent she's unique.

She's undergone a complete transformation and I reckon she looks great, very reminiscent of the state of steam locomotives when I was seeing them back in the 60's. There is one small issue that needs attending to though - the cab steps on the right side have broken off but this should be a very straight forward fix for someone with a keen eye and a steady hand.

Sadly the box, whilst adequate for a home, is a bit of a wreck with one of the flap ends in particular having taken a right battering. It holds the broken step in a twist of tissue and also the Hard Jeff 'receipt'. The two part poly tray is in good order and I've lined this with some tissue paper with the cab step in a separate twist.

She has not been run in the ten plus years that I've owned her so I have just given her a short test run on a rolling road. She was a little stuttery and also noisier than I'd expect through the range not that she should really be judged by more recent standards!! Otherwise the motor ran fairly well but I'm sure she could benefit from a good service being the age she is (couldn't we all!!) and the fact that she's been laid up for so long which I'm sure will go a long way to resolving the 'noisy' issue.  I have down loaded a copy of the maintenance instructions and popped them in the box.

Please look carefully at the photos which form part of the description. I want everyone to bid with confidence so I always do my best to fully describe the locomotive openly and fairly but if you have any queries just drop me a line.

I've built up.an extensive collection of mainly steam locos over the years having been fortunate enough to catch their final years. Most have come from various auctions but sadly I've just run out of space so time for some serious thinning out. The last thing I want to do is disappoint anyone so it's important to be clear that I'm more of a 'display collector' than a 'runner' and it follows that my knowledge generally on the technical side is fairly basic. I've invested in a rolling road to at least check that the motor runs but beyond that I'm not qualified to make further comment I'm afraid.

I will dispatch to many locations outside the UK but only those listed through eBay's Global Shipping Program.

On postage, I’m sorry that this is so high. Sadly for everyone delivery costs have shot up recently across the board. I send out everything valued at over £25 signed for and fully covered compensation wise and whilst sometimes I have to make a little bit of an estimate I only ever seek to recover the direct cost to me.

I'll put a thin foam layer across the top of the tray to help prevent rub in transit
