I am selling a fantastic Catalina Pottery Art Ware piece!
Catalina Pottery is the art-ware division of Franciscan, this piece was made on the mainland, not Catalina Island.
Catalina Pottery art-ware items were made between 1937 and 1942. Production ceased in 1942 due to the war effort. After WWII ended, the art-ware division did not resume. So sad, as many beautiful items had been part of this group.
This item is a head vase. The head vase is shape # C-801. It stands 7” high, is 5 3/4” long, and just under 4” across at its widest part. The head vase is hand painted in maroon, red, and green. The bottom has both an ink stamp and an incised mark. The ink stamp reads
“MADE IN
U.S.A.”,
The incised mark reads
“CATALINA
C-801
POTTERY”.
Condition has one notable issue. There is a tiny rim nick along the hands where the opening is. This has resulted in some discoloration around this area. I have included some photos so you can see this for yourself.
