Up for sale is one of my Squier guitars. This one is a Squier Pro Tone from 1997. It is the “Fat Strat” version that only came in black, with matching headstock, and gold hardware.

There are numerous finish scratches and dings that I’ve attempted to show in the pics.

When I received this guitar, the electronics were MIA and finding them is near impossible. So I attempted to recreate what it was out of the factory. That also proved to be near impossible as the cavity routing is different than most Strats making the “Pro Tone” pickguard specific to a “Pro Tone” guitar.

While you can only physically see 2 pickups, there are actually 3. The middle pickup is there, it’s just hidden under the pickguard. It still works. There is a push-push tone knob that allows the humbucker to be split. Some of the screws on the pickguard are chrome, while others are gold. It never really bothered me, but it’s there so I felt I should let you know. One of the screws for the pickguard is missing intentionally. I didn’t want to drill an unnecessary hole into the body as these guitars are becoming harder and harder to find.

There are some marks on the fretboard that don’t affect playability. The guitar is from 1997 and it has been played. Fret wear is very minimal however.

These Pro Tone guitars are some of the best guitars to come out of Squier. Ash body, maple neck, good fretwork. Its rumored Fender put an end to these because they were too good!

I’m selling off some of my massive collection. There will be more to come.

Purchases made on weekends or holidays ship on the next business day.

The licensed Floyd rose is, to the best of my knowledge, the one the guitar was born with. I did replace the string lock-down screws as the ones that came on the guitar were mismatched.
