SERIOUS BUYERS...LOST AND WELL PRESERVED IN STORAGE FOR ALL THESE YEARS!

Read my story below…

I have listed additional pictures in this auction, but this is only a small portion of what’s available as well of some of the other items that were sold already as a reference. I will be digging out more items to list from the same lot that I have stored away all these years and listing daily so check back regularly to see what’s next.

I purchased a storage locker in Tujunga because the items in it appeared to be vintage. What I could see during the bidding were a couple of old lamps with cool patina, boxes of records probably from the 30s to 60s, several boxes of books from the same era, and a couple of nice baskets hopefully filled with similar treasures. There were many interesting items in all of the boxes and baskets, Limoges china and other old pieces, a wind up lion and monkey which appeared to be very old, and some cast iron monkeys similar to the modern day " Barrel of Monkeys" which link together hanging from one to the next just to name a few. .........ALL OF THESE ITEMS WILL BE UP FOR SALE There are many old 78 rpm albums and they progress through the years to include some 33 rpms as well. I found the antiquated books to be quite interesting and found that many of the books had a hand written name in them which was common place for that period. The name seemed familiar and prompted me to do a little internet research. The name was Llewellen or in some cases Lew Keller. LLewellen Keller (1912-1996) was an artist who started with Disney around 1938-1940, designed tv commercials for Shamus Culhane and Tempo productions, began working at UPA as primary designer of the animated segments in the live action feature , " The Four Poster (1952), , he was co art director for the classic John Sutherland educational film, "A is for Atom" (1952), He also designed numerous commercials for Ray Patin Productions in the mid-50s. He designed and directed a number of shorts for the "Boing Boing Show" and Gerald Mcboing Boing on the Planet Moo....and the list goes on and on. I had this art and even the reels and original soundtrack albums and story boards, etc. Apparently, he linked up with Jay Ward in the 1960's. I have been looking through boxes of his first ORIGINAL hand drawn and painted art, samples, cells, Letters, an interview with Mike Barrier, a typed list of contracts he was being paid for by warner bros and others at the time along with some of the works, storyboards, pitch art, etc for cartoons like, Rocky and Bullwinkle, Mickey Mouse, Mr. Peabody and Sherman, George of the Jungle, Fang, Tom Slick, Hoppity Hooper, Underdog, Super Chicken, Dudley Dooright, as well as for magazines, books, etc. Even some that never made it onto tv like Gag drawings, and other great characters you must see.Ever heard of Orville Wrong....I SOLD him and other characters...in original artwork with descriptions of the characters and what and who they would be about.I SOLD folders labeled "Original Cap'n Crunch as submitted to Quaker Oats" with drawings and story board, some in colors and other misc. I also have some original art works on wood and cardboard as well as commercial charcoal art and others....keep coming back and Check out my listings to see many more items that I have in several piles of folders.

Years later I’m pulling out more interesting artwork and concept drawings as well as contracts with book companies to draw the book covers for mystery novels, before, during, and after completion. Some original drawings and completed books and other interesting possibly some even unknown concept drawings.

Found some original pencil drawings for Bullwinkle in Space too.

Back then I sold a bunch of the original concept watercolor art from Bambi, Peter Pan and many other Disney characters. Also, Tom Slick, Rocky & Bullwinkle, Capn Crunch drawings, storyboards and more for commercials. Mickey Mouse and George of the Jungle,Mr. Magoo, Hoppity Hooper, Dudley Doright, Mr. Peabody, Natasha and Snidley Whiplash and more…

I searched the internet recently and found that many of these items were of course properly sold again later in auction houses in New York and other places. You can still see them online today. I posted some pics at the end of the pictures in this auction.

Be sure to keep checking out my other auctions as more and more animation art and other interesting art from Lew Keller is being listed daily.
