of the northwestern part of the European continent. In the north to
Greenland and and the North Cape and with Iceland. The large cartouche on the left id the frame of which is formed by branches
into which the coats of arms of the European kingdoms and republics as
well as the Papal States are embedded. In the mirror of the cartouche is
the French title of the map with the address of the cartographer Pierre
Duval (1618-1683). Below the cartouche is a cartouche with a dedication
from Duval to Achille III. de Harlay (1639-1712) and his coat of arms
at the top. At the bottom right is Duval's address with the French
printing privilege. In the upper left corner there is a mileage scale
and the publisher's address of Duval's daughter and heiress, dated 1686
and the printing privilege for ten years. The map was first published in
1668. It is the upper left part of a four-plate map of the whole of
Europe. Rare.
