Little History Behind the Cap

On the front of the cap is the badge worn by the astronauts on that mission, it shows the surface of the moon with a bald eagle flying to represent the United States, the eagle is clutching an olive branch in recognition of their peaceful mission. The planet Earth is visible in the sky far off in the distance. The logo for the mission was designed by Apollo 11’s command module pilot, Michael Collins, who apparently could do it all.

On July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong, Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin, and Collins landed on the moon, Armstrong and Aldrin were the two on that flight to step foot on the lunar surface. Apollo 11 was the first of six successful manned moon landings to take place over the course of the next three years; no person has walked on the moon since Eugene Cernan departed along with Apollo 17 on December 14, 1972.
