Rugrats: Munchin Land. Munchin Land is an interactive board game featuring the characters made popular by Nickelodeon's cartoon series Rugrats. Don't expect amazing 3D animations, or true to life, real time action here. Aimed directly at children under ten, Munchin Land takes the idea of a board game, and plants it directly into the PC. The board itself is simply a standard unanimated bitmap with colorful pictures of scenery and locale. You'll be treated to animated 'characters', which act as your board pieces. Characters walk through the board, reacting to scenery and game details. They each have specialized catch phrases for certain actions, such as entering a mini game and being awarded prizes.

The voices of Tommy Pickles, Chuckie, Angelica and the rest of the Rugrats gang are incredibly realistic. Everything down to the children's lisps and knack for mispronunciation is evident in the game. The voices add humor to Munchin Land, and turn the game into more of an interactive Rugrats episode instead of just another board game.

Rounding out the graphics and audio in Munchin Land are various cut scenes, which give Munchin Land its storyline. The detail in animation is much like the actual cartoon, and children should enjoy watching their favorite characters come to life on the PC.

The Rugrats are always imagining creative ways to pass their time. This time they've dreamt themselves into the subtext of The Wizard of Oz, except they've taken a few liberties. You can play either alone or with a friend in a board game, which leads you on the path of the 'Rainbow Colored Road' up to the 'Whizzer of Odd.' The first to find him wins the game.

Obviously since this is a Board game, a turn-based system of play switches from player to player. Players start at different board locations, but starting closer to the Wizard does not necessarily mean you'll get to him sooner. The Wicked Witch of the West, Angelica Pickles, has some tricks to slow the babies down. You will need to collect 'Paciflyers' which you use to enter four magical lands on your search for the 'Golden Ticket' for entrance into 'Marigold City', the home of the 'Whizzer.'

Each land has special puzzles that you must complete to gain Paciflyers. Puzzles include logic puzzles, picture puzzles, twitch action challenge, and a great grab challenge. These puzzles are randomly selected upon landing on a tornado symbol, which 'whooshes you into a mini-game.' Get enough Placifliers and you'll be allowed into the next world. Before you can enter Marigold City you must also collect four pieces to the Golden Ticket, which are located in each of the other four lands.

Single player and double player modes are available, allowing you to play as one of four characters from the cartoon series.
