German 18th Century Cast Pewter Relief Plate Ferdinand III Beaded Rim NICE
Pewter relief plate.
The central figure is Ferdinand III (1608-1657) the Holy Roman Emperor mounted on horseback.
Over his head says Ferdinand III DG:Rom:IM:S:A
The central medallion is surrounded by raised bead work as is the outer edge of the plate.
The rim has six oval cartouches of equestrian figures, each slightly different.
Between the cartouches are six different stylized masks.
Measures nearly 7" across.
We have researched this old piece, and it seems to date as far back as the 18th century.
It is unmarked but we believe it was made in Germany.
The back has a hanger to display it on a wall.
