Beats CD players costing £3k+ as stock. Obviously my worlds best Radford WS1 is far far better!

Absolutely gorgeous looking and sounding CD player. I wasn't surprised to see it beats CD players costing more than the original retail price. Read the review as it clearly states it beats a Marantz CD-12 which I always looked up to as a legendary CD player. If your lucky enough to find one expect to pay £2k+ But what's the point if the Radford is clearly better!

My work began with the CD player mainboard, all diodes are Schottky diodes and all power caps are mainly Panasonic FM/FC and a few Nichicon FW. I have done so many of these type of boards I rate myself as an expert on it! This board serves as the transport board and honestly they are exceptional for what they offer!

The DAC board is really where all the magic happens! I fitted 7x Ultra low noise regulators for the DAC chip and the opamps and 1X low noise regulator for the very power hungry oversampling chip. The main smoothing caps are Mundorf Mlytic and Nichicon Gold Tune and Schottky diodes for all sections.  

The parts are absolutely exceptional in performance. They are not cheap but worth every penny.

Note that this CD player as standard has a metal CDM drive, all silver wires, ALPS volume pot which allows you to directly connect it to your power amplifier, all polystyrene caps, high end audio path resistors etc. To the untrained eye all these fine details will go un-seen.

I found the sound quality to have extraordinary detail, extremely transparent and very airy. Very euphoric and balanced sound. The parts I have used really dig out the detail from the recordings. This CD players uses the much highly regarded S1 Crown chip which I have grown to be an expert on. 

Long short will smash any CD player you have costing £2k+

As the review states, pressing the standby button turns off the display and remote functions and it really improves the sound quality even further.

Please note I have removed the latching mechanism for the display off button as its better just to put it in standby and listen that way for best performance and the remote is a Philips replacement.

Oh and at least a 30mins warm-up is recommended. Honestly had to pick up my jaw off the floor this CD player sounds so good. Its also extremely rare. Grab an absolute bargain!
