Acer palmatum atropurpureum, (purple to dark green in summer, 7 lobes)

Good species for bonsai and landscaping.  Mother tree is surrounded by other Japanese Maple varieties, so seedlings will be generally like the species and do not come true to named variety in flower color or exact leaf variation.  As always with open-pollinated trees, expect these seedlings to be widely variable, with medium cut lobes, red evolving to purple-dark green in summer, dark pink in autumn.

Almost all seeds are mature and collected in autumn here in the Northern Hemisphere, with the exception of Elm, Virginia Bluebell and Columbine which are collected in summer and can be planted immediately. All other seeds here stored in refrigerator from collection in the previous year for stratification purposes.  You may ask for the current year's seeds in early autumn to be sent instead of last year's seeds, but they are not yet stratified and you will be responsible for that.  Current year's seeds are suitable for planting in-situ.  If you do not specify one way or the other, you will get stratified seeds from the prior year.

For sales outside USA, Canada or Brazil you MUST check to see if seeds are a permitted imported to YOUR COUNTRY.

China, Russia & North Korea do not allow importation of seeds.
