Up for your consideration is a vintage cast iron mechanical river anchor. The main body is cast iron, and have a very Stout spring inside with a trap like flap piece. This is currently rusty and does not move. It originally had three ears /wings One is missing, One is broken and the third is complete. On the cast section of the anchor it appears to have said SQUID, however, the I is pitted. It also says patent pending on the other side.

I cannot find anything about this anchor, I have image searched it, googled it, etc. I cannot find another like it.  This would be a very cool piece to restore. The wings are just held in with pins. The one could be removed, a mold made and new ones fabricated. A good restoration and this thing would be back to functioning as it should. Or leave it like it is and display it with your collection.
