The book is full brown leather with gold shield to the front cover. The cover has some surface shelf ware, light rubbing to the corners and some rubbing to the spine edges. The top and bottom of the spine has some rubbing to leather, otherwise the cover is in good condition. The hinges, inner boards and endpapers are good. This book has a presentation to the Governors of George Heriots Hospital being presented to James J Black 1859. The book is with frontispiece and has a pull out chart and pull out map of Edinburgh, with several other plates ( see pictures). The book has 390 pages including the index. Other than a few pages to the rear having a small mark at the bottom edge the pages they are in good condition. Marble finish to page block. The binding is tight and square.
