Vintage Borghese silhouette reproduction print after a painted portrait of an 18th Century British military officer by John Buncombe (1795-1825), Newport, Isle of Wight, United Kingdom. The remnants of a sticker on the back, as well as the painted backing, seem to indicate that the print is a Borghese silhouette made in Italy. The black-painted wood frame with gold trim measures approximately 6 1/16” wide x 6 1/2” high. There is a circular metal hanger at the top of the frame. The exact age of the print is unknown, but it may have been produced in the 1930s-50s. Estate sale find.

The print appears to be in excellent used condition with signs of wear and age, such as fading, yellowing, and some spots. The print hasn’t been examined outside of the frame. The wood frame appears to be in good used condition with signs of wear and age, such as scratches, scrapes, abrasions, nicks, chips, indentations, spots, stray marks, rub marks, wear along the edges, corners, and raised areas, and some loss of finish. The backing appears to be in very good used condition with signs of wear and age, such as scratches, scrapes, abrasions, nicks, indentations, paint spots, stray marks, and rub marks. The sticker (probably a Borghese sticker) has been mostly torn away. The glass appears to be in excellent used condition with signs of wear and age, such as minor smudge marks, rub marks, haziness, and perhaps some dust and debris between the glass and the frame. The metal hanger appears to be slightly bent.
