T
his listing is for a vintage "King" baritone horn made by the H.N. White Co. The serial number is 337354. This is a 3 valve horn with a front/forward facing bell. It has satin silver plate finish with a gold wash bell interior.

This is a former school horn that has been retired by the district that owned it. Like most school horns, this one has taken its share of knocks. It should be presumed to need work, possibly up to and including a full overhaul, to be put in proper playing condition. Please read on for more details regarding its condition. While I strive to be as accurate as possible with my description, please understand that I can't detail every minor imperfection. If I miss something it is not intentional. Please read the description fully, check out the pictures carefully, and if in doubt, ask questions prior to bidding! This instrument is being sold as is.

There are many dents, dings, pings, and nicks throughout. I have tried to show the worst of them in my pictures. The spine on the back of the bell is flattened slightly. There are multiple resoldered joints. There is a solder scar where there is a missing piece (a thumb ring I believe). The lead pipe is broken free from its brace, and the tubing between the lead pipe and the 1st valve has broken free from the bell. This section of tubing is bent/bowed and might have some minor cracks in it. None of the tuning slides are stuck, but the main slide can not be fully extracted because it is making contact with the tubing below. Something must be bent out of whack. None of the pistons or lower valve caps are stuck. The pistons move freely and rebound quickly, but there is some oxidation on them. One of the touch pieces is mis-matched, and the other two have cracked pearls. The silver finish is mostly intact with light tarnish. This instrument has a school ID number professionally engraved on the bell.

This horn comes in what is likely its original case. The case is in poor condition. The interior isn't too bad, but the exterior is heavily worn. There are multiple joints that are coming apart, and there is a crack in the lid. The lid feels a little loose, but it does latch securely. The school ID number is also written on the exterior of the case in white marker.

There is no mouthpiece, and no other accessories included with this horn.
