Superb Victorian Scottish sterling silver school penmanship medal dated 1858. The beautiful presentation inscription reads:

"BURGH & PAROCHIAL SCHOOL CAMPBELTOWN. PRESENTED BY The Kintyre Club TO John Allan Anderson FOR THE BEST SPECIMEN OF PENMANSHIP 1858"

The obverse has been engraved with a crest & is further engraved:

"THE KINTYRE CLUB INSTITUTED 1825"

The medal comes complete with a quality presentation case which I believe to be original to the medal.

Sterling Silver Medal: Weight: 22.9 gm. Diameter: 52 mm. The medal is not hallmarked due to its age but it is stamped with the maker's mark "TR".

Campbeltown: A town in Kintyre, Argyllshire, Scotland.

Summary: Victorian school medals do not come much more attractive than this example, awarded over 165 years ago. Good luck!
