I bought this A2 SE 1.4 petrol for my daughter in May 2019 and we have kept it in the family ever since. It has covered 113,950 miles and has done many trips from Worcester to Brighton and back during our ownership with no problems whatsoever.

The service book has 7 stamps up to 85,948 miles in November 2017 plus various supporting invoices. We have had it serviced three times since then, the last being an interim service in April 2023 at 111k miles (new oil and filter; levels check; new rear wheel bearing etc). It also had another oil service just a couple of weeks ago. The OBC says the next service is due in 1,500 miles. 

Invoices show that it had a new cam belt and water pump in Nov 2012 at c.55k miles. It also had a new clutch kit in Nov 2017 at c.86k miles. We had new shock absorbers fitted all round along with new front brake discs and pads in 2021 at c.101k miles. It also had new rear tyres very recently.

It drives beautifully and has an MOT until 13^th December 2024 with just a few minor advisories (worn front tyres; minor exhaust leak; discoloured headlamp lenses). There are also 11 old MOTs and it has all its original handbooks and two sets of keys.

Bad points: As you can see in the photos, it is pretty scruffy with lacquer peel on the tops of the front wings and the odd parking scratch but, being all-aluminium, it has zero rust. The engine management light has been coming on and off since we bought the car but this has been checked out and is just a faulty O2 sensor. The rear electric passenger window doesn’t work and is taped shut. The seats are grubby and the headlining is coming loose above the rear parcel shelf. The boot is sometimes reluctant to open from the outside and the central locking can also be temperamental.

Apart from that, everything seems to work fine and the car is such fun to drive. It is remarkably light and nippy and cruises easily at motorway speeds with 50+mpg economy. It is also remarkably roomy inside (5 people won’t be uncomfortable) and you can park it in the smallest of spaces.

An ideal runabout for someone who isn’t too fussed about cosmetics, it is only for sale because we have just bought my daughter a VW Golf and the A2 isn’t getting used. For the record, I much prefer the A2 but I’m not the boss!
