Real name: Kojima Shichiemon

  He was a swordsmith of the Zenjo Kaneyoshi lineage and father of Kojima Kanemichi and Kanenori. 
He was a swordsmith who was active as an army commissioned swordsmith.

The Japanese steel refined in this way is known under the brand name of 'Sakurajirushi'.
In the pre-war period, Kisaku Ibe and others at Yasugi Steel Limited Partnership, the predecessor of Hitachi Metals Yasugi Works, developed the first high-speed tool steel in the Orient by electric steelmaking with the cooperation of Matsue Electric Power Co.

Today, the product is developed at the Hitachi Metals Metallurgical Laboratory in Yasugi City, Shimane Prefecture, and manufactured at the Yasugi Works using state-of-the-art technology.

It is defined as the name of all special steels, including tool steels for cutlery, moulds, high-performance machinery, etc., where material strength is required (these are registered as YSS Yasugi Speciality Steel).

As mentioned above, YSS Yasuki Hagane is still the best brand of high-grade blade steel today.
]Yasugi steel (Yasugi Hagane), also known as blue paper steel, is a tough steel used for high-grade blades in which the white paper contains compounds of chrome (involved in toughness and hardenability), tungsten (involved in wear resistance) and carbon.

The purpose of making swords from Yasugi steel Yaski-hagane may be the pursuit of tremendous sharpness.

It is a valuable sword born in wartime.
