CHANDELIER COMPOTE<>HECK

the VERY ELEGANT and SCARCE Early American Glass Pattern known as "Heck", and also "Double Prism"....from Model Flint Glass c.1893, featured in a High-Standard TRUE OPEN COMPOTE, with VERY HIGH 3 1/4" outside edge. This seldom seen Victorian Pedestal Glass Treasure is ORNATELY DESIGNED with a BEAUTIFUL and UNIQUELY-SHAPED, FLARED RIM....giving it an almost SQUARE SHAPE. It measures 8 3/4" wide x 10" across the flared edges x 8" (8 1/4") high, with a 1/4" variation in height x 4 3/4" across the base. The is a shallow well in the middle of the compote. It's decorated all-over with THICK, CHANDELIER PRISM SHAPES, a theme which is also carried down the pedestal, to the PLATFORM-STYLE BASE. It's in EXCELLENT CONDITION, with only one chipped point, as seen in the picture 12; one point is a touch worn, with rub wear on a diamond point above the point (picture 11). The inside rim of the base has a fine/flat flake. The glass is SPARKLING CLEAR and SHINEY BRIGHT...and it really glistens in the sunlight! There are the usual old mould marks from the glassmaking process; like bubbles, straw marks, swirls/striations, overall mould seam roughness, and unique moulding anomalies; all characteristics inherent to antique glass. An awesome EAPG treasure indeed....and one that will make a fabulous addition for collections of "hard-to-find"
