Beautifully Woven Tapestry Cushion Cover, Brand New, Quality Product, Belgium Manufactured Faithful replication of a Templar Knight / Templier guarding the entrance to a Medieval fortified city in France "Le Templier" The Templar knights were a military and religious order from the 12th to 14th centuries, (recently made more famous by the film the Da Vinci Code), who rose to fame on the back of the crusades and the money repository and forwarding system they invented and operated which made them fabulously wealthy but which also was in turn the most likely cause of their eventual demise in Paris, France at the hands of the French King due to the greed of the French aristocracy who had bankrupted their country and looked for easier solutions than hard work. The Templar money system is believed to be the forefather of our current banking system. It is commonly thought that some Templar knights survived and fled to the British Isles where it has been argued that they formed the roots of our Freemasonry, and whom are thought to have been instrumental in the building of Roselyn Chapel in Scotland which has been the subject of much speculation over the Holy Grail and the "missing" Templar treasures which the French crown apparently failed to get its hands in in spite of their dastardly deeds. The town and church of Templecombe in Somerset is also known to have had strong and important links with the Templar movement, hence the name of the town. Some historians have suggested that the Templar knights and their movement sprung up as an order out of the ashes of the Cathar movement in southern France, known as the Knights perfect/parfait for their pious, simple beliefs, lowly lifestyle and system of worship which practiced Christianity for all rather than the wealthy and which got them into so much trouble with the established church and the Vatican that they were also the victims of a witch hunt and extermination.
