Made from a composite rubber/plastic, the mute when not is use is retained on the violin around one of the strings ('A' or 'D') between the bridge and tailpiece in readiness for use when it is then slid to the bridge and secured over the top by means of a simple integral moulded clip. Mute has a tab for easy application and removal. As with any mute, when in use the mute adds to the bridge's mass/weight so impeding vibrations and dampening sound producing a softer more mellow effect.

a note for overseas buyers
We are happy to post Worldwide. However, though most items weigh little, nevertheless because of thickness, they must be sent as a package and therefore incur a postage charge within Europe of £3.15 in the case of small items and £3.55 for rest of world. However, this cost can be off-set by ordering other additional items which together can usually be posted for the same postal charge.
