This is a SMC Pentax-A 200mm f/4 telephoto lens for the Pentax 645 series medium format cameras. It is in excellent condition cosmetically and optically. The external optical surfaces are smooth with no notable marks in the coatings. Negligible internal dust that will not affect image quality is visible. The cosmetics are of normal use with one minor barrel ding at the flange edge. This does not affect mounting or performance of the lens. The telescoping metal lens hood locks into position when extended and stays in place. The glossy black barrel shows minor marks but no paint loss. Front and rear lens caps are included.
A short telephoto lens, the SMC Pentax-A 200mm f/4 has the focal equivalent of a 135mm lens on 35mm film or full frame digital SLR cameras. It is a perfect choice for portraiture, head shots, nature, architectural detail, fine art, sports and general photographic applications calling for image compression provided by telephoto lenses. The aperture ring goes from f/4 to f/32 with full stop clicks between f/4 and f/5.6 as well as f/22 and f/32. The remaining stops are detented in 1/2 stop increments. A chrome button locks the diaphragm in “A” mode for auto-aperture operation on Pentax cameras that support it.
This awesome lens, made for use with Pentax 645 manual focus film cameras, can live on in the digital age using a mount adapter of your choice (not a part of this sale) and be attached to many of today’s digital camera bodies. Using the lens in this way will likely require you to operate all functions manually including, but not limited to, stop-down metering. Of course you can still use it on your favorite Pentax 645 camera body too. Any way you use it you’ll love the sharp, high contrast images it produces...
