Joe Strummer's 1966 Fender Telecaster

Joe acquired this 1966 three-tone sunburst Telecaster in 1975 and it remained his main guitar throughout his career. After joining the Clash the body and pickguard were refinished with a coat of grey primer and a black top coat in a car spray shop. By 1979 a bridge with individual saddles had been fitted, the original tuners had been replaced and the "Ignore Alien Orders" sticker had been applied. The guitar remained in this configuration through his remaining career whilst being adorned with a variety of stickers.
