This white 10oz. ceramic mug is decorated with a highly detailed hand drawn illustration of Hank Marvin's Red 1959 Fender Stratocaster

In early 1959 Hank Marvin had joined Cliff Richard's band and was looking for a Stratocaster like the one Buddy Holly used on his 1957 album cover The 'Chirping' Crickets, but there were none to be found in the UK at that time due to post-war import restrictions. So it was an enormous surprise when this brand new Fiesta Red Stratocaster arrived out of nowhere. Complete with gold hardware and bird's eye maple neck, this is reputedly the first Fender Stratocaster to have arrived in the UK and the guitar Hank played live and on recordings of Living Doll, Apache, Kon-Tiki and numerous other hits.

This is a detailed original illustration of this unique guitar produced by George Morgan following extensive research. This is not a photograph.

This red Stratocaster has been dye sublimated onto the mug. This means the image is under the ceramic glaze and is dishwasher, microwave and UV-proof and with normal use will not scratch, crack, fade or peel.

The durable nature of this printing process makes it ideal for use in the home or studio.
