An exceptional little cotton reel box from the Regency period. Dating to the 1820s and most probably made in the Tunbridge area of Kent, England - famous for their intricate inlaid wood/ spa ware designs. This small, rectangular box comes complete with three antique reels of silk floss, silk thread. This gorgeous survivor has the most fabulous natural patina where it has obviously been a cherished item.

Hand made from a light coloured satinwood with very attractive stained wood inlay. The chevron/ ribbon inlay so apt for a lady's needlework sewing box. We adore the dovetail joints to each corner, a true sign of early 19th century craftsmanship - no nails to be found here!! The sliding lid works perfectly and slides to reveal the original pink paper lined interior.

Measuring 6 5/8" (17 cm) by 1.25" (3 cm) by 2" (5 cm).

Condition is very good with only the normal amount of minor surface wear to be expected on a Georgian box.

A fine addition to your period sewing collection.
