UNIVERSAL HEAVY DUTY SOLAR PANEL MOUNTING BRACKETS (KIT2) PANEL NOT INCLUDED
This listing is for 4 mounting brackets & self tapping screws. These brackets are suitable for most sizes and makes of PV Solar panels. The actual method of fixing to the panel needs to be asessed depending on size of panel, the type of surface it is being fixed to, and the conditions subjected to. Generally self tappers are fine for panels up to 20W, but screws nuts and spring washers etc may be more suitable for larger panels or harsh conditions. On Panels up to 20W, two brackets per panel will normally suffice (depending on shape & size). On panels over 20W we would recommend 4 brackets. On very large panels or extreme conditions 6 brackets may be beneficial. NOTE: These are available in 2, 4 and 6 in our ebay shop. Various options also available to suit most applications. NOTE! As these are universal brackets that can be used on a wide range of solar panels, it is important to satisfy yourself that the method of fixing is sufficient for the type of installation and intended use. We are happy to offer our advice if required. These brackets were designed as universal brackets to suit most types of installation. If the panel ever needs to be removed from the roof or structure, either the bracket needs to be detachable from the roof or the panel from the bracket. ATTACHING BRACKET TO PANEL METHOD (A) As it is often desirable to bond the bracket to the roof, it is essential to be able to remove the panel from the bracket. With our universal bracket you can either attach the panel to the bracket using self tapping screws, or M4* screws into the side of the panel or if the panel is purchased from us, an option is to have them attached via an M6 screw to an L shaped bracket on the panel. Either method will allow easy removal when required. Note! Using an M4 screw and nyloc etc will be more fiddly than the other methods above, but will be more secure than self tappers. In panels above 20W self tappers may not be suitable due to weight of panel and forces subjected to. Note! We now list our Easy remove kit with "L" brackets as Kit7 (with 4 brackets) or Kit 8 (with 6 brackets). ATTACHING BRACKET TO PANEL METHOD (B) If the brackets are to be just fixed via screws to the roof, fixing to the panel can be achieved by using screws and nylocs etc to the underside of the panel. With this method, access to the bracket to panel bolts are only accessible once the brackets are removed from the roof. The bracket has a slot to enable it to fit most sizes of panel. Note! Our Kit 5 includes M6 screws nuts and washers for mounting method B FIXING THE BRACKET TO THE ROOF The brackets can be attached to a variety of surfaces via self tapping screws using the two outer fixing holes, or via a nut and bolt through the centre fixing hole. If fixing to a roof such as a Caravan or Motorhome it is essential to seal the screw entry holes to avoid water ingress. In most cases bonding with Sikaflex 221 to the entire surface of the bracket will result in the most reliable installation. A lot of people just use Sikaflex and do not drill the roof at all. The substantial surface area of these brackets make this method suitable for many installations. In this case use method A to attach to panel if the panel ever needs to be removed for maintenance etc.
