The 70-300mm G-Series Zoom is an excellent lightweight tele-zoom lens offering superb optical performance for a very attractive price.
Pin sharp, and very light for its size, it is a great budget wildlife or sports lens.

This is also a Full Frame (FX) lens, which means you can keep it if you upgrade cameras, and also has a extra advantage in that you only use the centre, or 'sweet-spot' of the lens on a DX camera. To explain: any distortion or loss of quality in a lens is usually in the outer areas... Now, although this is a great quality Nikon lens, any potential losses are outside of the area you will use on a DX camera, hence immaterial. 

The 70-300 is an AF G-Series Lens, and is compatible with: 
All Nikon Pro and Semi-Pro Digital SLR cameras (including FX) and also with the:
D50 D70 D70S D80 D90 D100 D200 D300 D300S. It is also fully compatible with the D7000 Series cameras and all AF 35mm film cameras.
